Launching of the 7th issue theme: "Trends: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly"

Trends in architecture may vary from architecture designed by famous architects, all the way to details found on facades.

The approaches taken these days in design vary drastically; yet at the same time, they all lead down a road named "The Trend".

The T-Square Magazine Team would like to announce that it will be hosting a dinner under the title "Trends"

The night will consist of three speeches by guest speakers, Dr. Brain Sinclair, Dr. Mohammed Abdulkhadr and Waleed Shaalan*, on the trends of architecture that may have been seen as changed, or developed throughout the Middle East and Western region.

The event will take place on 18th June, 2009.

Philosophical Directions in Architecture.. a video lecture

Arch. Nofal Abdulali has given a lecture that was organized by KASA. It talks about how 20'th century philosophical meditations have directly impacted Architectural thought and practice. The philosophies explored are: Objectivism, Structuralism, Semiotics and Deconstruction. The ideas introduced will promote more critical thinking and spur a fruitful dialogue on the wider implications of philosophy on modern-life.

A Place to Meet

Beautifully Simple. Exposing the essence of the space with no distractions or complications. I can feel the architecture in here. There's a message behind this design intention, and I'd like to hear different interpretations and readings.

Interior Design by Eldridge Smerin Architects

"Do you dream of a living space entirely free of distractions? This inspired interior design from Eldridge Smerin Architects is totally free from unnecessary complications. The Zen-like simplicity will grow on you, as you focus only on the most important thing: the people around you. In this calming environment the cluster of comfortable chairs (in a startling contemporary yellow!) adds intimacy. Stark white walls appear gentler by placing the small windows low down, and adding a commercial light to illuminate the top part of the room. Following the wooden slatted pathway through the pebbled floor serves to symbolically transport you to a different place, with a different focus. An out-of-the-ordinary approach by Eldridge Smerin Architects that cleverly manages to be both challenging and cozy – and a perfect place to make plans…" -Trendir.com-
